About Me

Does anyone really know how to write an “About”…about themselves? I’m going to give it my best shot.

I’m a fan of planting flowers, visiting Chicago, fresh fruit, my two daughters and three sisters, my nearly perfect grandbaby, writing, eating cookies, my husband Greg, South Florida winters—and more than anything, Jesus.

How’s that?

I grew up in Lombard, Illinois, 30 minutes west of Chicago. I married my favorite college boyfriend and moved with him to Texas and then Haiti where we adopted an incredible little girl named Melissa. While Greg was out flying airplanes across the island each day, I waddled to Melissa’s immigration interviews as a growing-larger-by-the-day pregnant lady, praying we’d receive her papers in time to all be together in the States for Baby Jenna’s birth. We did, and after settling in South Florida in 1991, we’ve lived here ever since.

Some of the best years of my life were homeschooling our girls, and when they finally went to “real” school as we called it (as if homeschool wasn’t real), I went along with them and worked in the school office. Eventually they both graduated, and for some reason, I stayed on! I enjoy my job as Communications Coordinator and am so grateful for my ministries alongside Greg in Awana, children’s church, and wherever else God takes us during a particular season.

Back to the “About” part of this page. I love my nieces and nephews, snow when someone else is driving, pulling weeds in my garden, and Greg’s cooking.
